Troubleshooting Steps

There are a few reasons why your elevator might not be working and a few things you can try before calling in for repairs.

I am inside the elevator and the elevator will not move when pressing the Floor I want to Travel to. What should I try?

  1. Make sure the run/stop switch on your control panel (inside the elevator) is in the “RUN” position.
  2. Check to make sure you fully closed the door behind you that you used to enter the elevator
  3. Check to make sure the Gate inside the elevator is fully closed.
    1. If the gate is fully closed open the gate, then close the gate back. Your elevator may just require a gate cycle.
  4. If the Car Operating Panel lights up registering the call but the elevator does not start to move press and hold any floor button down for 10 seconds. If a landing door is not fully closed and locked that floor level button will start blinking indicating you must close the door before trying to operate the elevator.
  5. If your elevator is equipped with a key or lockout switch, make sure the key switch is in the “ON” position.

I am outside the elevator and the elevator will not come when pressing the hall station. What should I try?

  1. Check all entry doors and gates to the elevator are fully closed.
    1. For Standard Push Button Elevators - If you place a call from outside the elevator and the call light blinks once but does not hold the call or does not stay lit wait 5 seconds and watch for the call button to blink. Count the number of blinks and that represents the floor the elevator is located with the door or gate open. Go to that floor and make sure to Open and Close the Door and Gate to the elevator.
    2. For Touchscreen Elevators – The hall station will inform you via screen message of the items needed to resolve, e.g., Gate or Door Open at floor X
  2. If your elevator is equipped with a key or lockout switch, make sure the key switch is in the “ON” position.

My Elevator is Completely Unresponsive but has power. What Should I Try?

  1. Make sure the Run/Stop switch is in the Run Position (See Step 1 from Inside the Elevator troubleshooting)
  2. Make sure all Gate(s) and Door(s) entrances to the elevator are fully closed
  3. Locate the House Breaker Panel
  4. Switch off Anything labeled “Elevator” and “Elevator Light” for a full 2 minutes
  5. After 2 minutes turn back on the breakers turned off in Step 4
  6. Return to the elevator and press the Call Button to see if the elevator is working again
    1. **NOTE: For Florida Residents Installed After 2017, You may need to turn and release the Master Reset Key when cycling the power to the elevator. This Master Reset Key is located near the equipment control panel oftentimes located near the top floor elevator door or machine room.

My Elevator is Completely Unresponsive and does not have power. What Should I Try?

  1. Locate the House Breaker Panel
  2. Check to confirm the breakers labeled “Elevator” and “Elevator Light” are not tripped
  3. If Tripped reset the Breakers by Turning them Back on

My Elevator Car Operating Panel top floor call light is blinking. What Does this Mean?

  • The elevator has detected water in the Pit (Bottom Floor) and will not allow the elevator to move to that bottom floor. You will need to call for service to have the water removed and the elevator reset before it will function normally again

If your elevator has any of the below symptoms a Service Call will be required

Standard Push Button Elevator Controls

  • Flashing #1 on the Car Operating Panel
  • Emergency Light, Call Light, and Flashing #1 Light on the Car Operating Panel inside the elevator

Touchscreen Controls

  • Error Code Displayed on Screen inside the cab on the Car Operating Panel
  • Error Code Displayed on Screen outside the cab on the Hall Station
